The NET is conducted by the UGC) for the research fellowships and appointment of assistant professors in the institutions of higher education.
The UGC has decided to give permissions to PSUs so that they may use the NET result database for the recruitment process to hire these master's degree holders as their officers.

According to the sources, the UGC gave its final nod to the proposal last week after it had been approved by the chairman. In fact, the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) has already issued an advertisement inviting applications from students who have successfully cleared the NET.
